A PoE Network Switch is a network connecting device that can carry both data and power, and is invaluable where power supply points might not be available nearby for devices that need power.
CCTV cameras connected to the Internet and wireless LAN access points are good examples of applications that utilize a Network Switch. A PoE switch has other advantages such as using a standardized connector (RJ45) versus the numerous types of connectors that different USBs use. A PoE switch is primarily used in situations where AC power is not available or economic, and USB is not suitable.
