  • What is Sense-Up CCTV Cameras? The main purpose of sense-up is to provide a camera technology that does not rely on artificial light to see in very low light conditions. Cameras with sense up are capable of seeing in near total darkness while retaining full color images. Security cameras equipped with this technology use an adjustable electronic shutter to vary the amount of light that enters the camera.

In other words, you retain the ability to see in high resolution during daytime, but gain the ability to see at night in stunning clarity and full color. So with our Sense-Up Infrared Cameras, you get the best of both worlds - crisp and clear day and night video!

Most Sense-up cameras have OSD, On-Screen Display. The OSD is used so that the installer can enter the camera programming menus and make adjustments to certain parameters. One of the most important parameters of sense-up cameras is the DSS or Sense-up limit. The limit setting can be set on most cameras anywhere from 2X amplification to 128X amplification. These settings translate directly into the amount of light being allowed into the camera. For example, a 2X setting will allow 2 times more light than a standard digital shutter camera and a 16X setting will allow up to 16 times more light than normal.

What is Wide Dynamic Range CCTV Cameras? The wide dynamic range (WDR) function of a camera is intended to provide clear images even under back light circumstances where intensity of illumination can vary excessively - when there are both very bright and very dark areas simultaneously in the field of view of the camera. WDR enables the capture and display of both bright and dark areas in the same frame, in a way that there are details in both areas, i.e. bright areas are not saturated, and dark areas are not too dark.

In surveillance, WDR allows a camera to filter the intense back light surrounding a subject and thus enhances the ability to distinguish features and shapes on the subject. WDR cameras are usually recommended for situations where light enters a premise from various angles such as a multi-window room.

For example, a camera placed on the inside of the room will be able to see through the intense sunlight or artificial light coming in. If an indoor security camera is pointed towards a window or an entrance door, you will see the background washed out during daytime. This is very common situation in restaurants and stores which have big glass windows.See an example of WDR above under the image.
