Video Guide

Written Guide

The following steps will show you how to setup the SV Max app on your phone or mobile device for viewing your SureVision Green Line recorders remotely.

Contents

1. Connecting to your Network
2. Enabling P2P
3. Installing the SV Max App
4. Adding your Device to the App
5. Enabling Alarm Notifications

Step 1. Connecting to your Network

Before you can access your recorder remotely, you must first connect it to your modem or router using an ethernet cable. Make sure you connect using the dedicated network port that is isolated from the other ethernet ports. Our systems do not support Wi-Fi connections for remote viewing. You must use a hard-wired connection.

We also recommend enabling the setting DHCP to auto-obtain an IP address for your system. Navigate to Menu > System > Network > Basic > TCP/IP on the recorder's interface. Click the slider next to Enable DHCP. Make sure you click Apply after changing any settings. If you have multiple NIC cards, choose the one that corresponds with the port that the network is connected to (Port 1 = NIC1, Port2 = NIC2, etc.).

Step 2. Enabling P2P

We now want to make sure P2P is enabled and Online. This is what we will use to establish connection between the mobile device and the recorder. Navigate to Menu > System > Network > Basic > P2P. If P2P is not enabled already, click the slider at the top to enable it. You should also see a status just below the enable box. This status will show Online, Offline, Network Connected, or Network Disconnected.

If the status shows Online or Network connected, you can continue to the next step. If the status shows Offline or Network disconnected, here are some things you can try to troubleshoot:

1. Make sure DHCP is enabled like in the previous step.
2. Check in Network > Advanced for PPPoE and/or Multicast. If you have either of these settings, they must be disabled for P2P to function.
3. Double check that the ethernet cable connecting the recorder to the network is connected and functional. You can also swap this cable for another known-working cable.
4. Power the recorder off and back on. You can do this with the power supply switch on the back/unplug the power supply.

If you try these four steps and the status still shows Offline or Network disconnected, there may be something with the network disrupting the P2P connection. It is best to contact your network admin or internet service provider (ISP) to figure out what could be blocking the connection.

You may want to leave this screen up since we will be using it to add the recorder in the next steps.

Step 3. Installing the SV Max App

Once the status on your recorder says Online or Network connected, you will want to install the SV Max. It can be found by searching in the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store for free. Alternatively, you can scan or tap on the following QR codes with your phone or mobile device to bring you to the correct store for your device:

Step 4. Adding your Device to the App

Open the app once it’s done installing. Agree to the Service Agreement, swipe through the introductory slideshow, and tap, Try Now.

Next, tap Log in/Sign Up. On the next page, you can login with your Star4Live account, used commonly in the SureVision mobile app, and Guard Station desktop app. If you don't have a Star4Live account already, tap sign up towards the bottom. Enter the best email address for the primary user, then tap send code.

You’ll then receive an email with a verification code to the address listed. Type that into the box labeled Enter the code, and you can then create a password. Once done, agree to the service agreement, and tap Sign Up.

On the SV Max home page, you can tap the plus (+) at the top right to add your device. If it asks to access the camera, allow it. The app will then show your camera, which you can use to scan the QR code on the P2P screen on your NVR.

By default, the system's name will be My Device. You can change this to whatever you'd like. Tap Add Device at the bottom, and it will add the device to your SV Max page on the app.

On the app's SV Max page, tap on the picture of your camera below the name of your device.

You can either tap the play button at the top right of the screen below to quickly play all of the cameras on that device, or tap on one of the images below it for a closer look of one or more cameras.

Step 5. Enabling Alarm Notifications

To enable notifications for motion detection, tap the three dots at the right of your doorbell, and tap Set.

On the settings page, select Allow Alarm Notifications.

Enable Allow Device Alarms and Allow App Notifications. You can change how often you want notifications to come through with the Notification Interval (Choose 0 min if you want unlimited notifications). You can also choose the times of day that you want notifications to come through with the Notification Schedule.

You can enable the Notification Schedule, and set the time periods and days of the week you would like to receive notifications during.
